The cyclists were participating in the Pierre Lavoie 1000 km tour

On June 16, 17, 18 and 19th, 2016, Pierre Lavoie invited all experienced and devoted cyclists to the 8th annual 1,000-km event. This major endeavour of the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie once again rallied all of Quebec. Cyclists pedaled from Lac-St-Jean to Montreal.

The Sotrem-Maltech group sponsored the “Hormé” team and Shawinigan Aluminium Inc., the Rayons du Fjord team.

Each 2016 team had to partner with an elementary school of its choice. The goal of this partnership was to get the school to register for the Défi des Cubes Énergie. In addition, teams acted as sponsors for students’ healthy life habits. Funds raised by the teams that exceeded the team registration were returned to the schools. The Hormé team partnered with Notre-Dame School, des Jolis-Prés of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean along with the Charles-Rodrigue de Lévis School and the Rayons du Fjord partnered with the Saint-Julien d’Alma School.

In 2015, Shawinigan Aluminium Inc. developed a policy of gifts and sponsorship. These policies favor donations to projects that promote youth development and humanitarian causes. Furthermore, the business supports causes involving employees or their children.

Bravo to the cyclists who participated in promoting healthy lifestyle choices and motivating youth to be active!
